Privacy policy

What we collect, why, who gets it and the choices you have. Written to be read, not skimmed past.

Last updated .

This policy covers Golden Hour Energy (“we,” “us”) and the website at goldenhourenergy.com, including the solar check. The short version: we collect what we need to give you an estimate and refer you, we pass it to one dealer and one installer, and you can opt out of that at any time.

Who it goes to. When you finish the check and agree to be contacted, we sell (as the CCPA defines that word) your information to one solar dealer, our licensed dealer partner, which passes it to one licensed installer to contact you. We may be paid for that referral. We don't sell it to anyone else. If we use advertising tools such as a social media pixel, we share limited internet activity with that platform to measure and target ads, which the CCPA calls “sharing.”
Your choice. You can opt out of the sale and sharing of your information at any time on our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out for that browser.
What we don't collect. We don't ask for your Social Security number or date of birth, and we don't pull your credit.
How long we keep it. We keep check answers and contact details for up to 24 months after your last activity with us, then delete or de-identify them, unless the law requires us to keep something longer. Records of your contact consent may be kept longer so we can show it was given.

How we use your information

  • To run the check and show you an estimate range.
  • To refer you to our dealer and one licensed installer, if you agree to be contacted.
  • To contact you about your check, using the phone and email you give us and only as you've agreed.
  • To keep the site secure, prevent fraud and fix problems.
  • To understand how the site is used and improve it.
  • To meet legal obligations and keep records of consent.

Calls, texts and email

If you agree to be contacted, the dealer and the installer may call, text or email you about solar for your home, including with automated technology, at the number you provide. Consent isn't a condition of any purchase. You can stop texts by replying STOP, and you can ask any company to stop calling you at any time. Message and data rates may apply.

Who else may receive information

  • Service providers that host the site, store data, send email or texts, or help prevent fraud. They may use it only to provide services to us.
  • Legal and safety. When required by law, or to protect rights, safety and property.
  • Business transfers. If Golden Hour Energy is sold or merged, information may transfer to the new owner under this policy.

Your California privacy rights

If you live in California, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we've collected about you and how we use and disclose it.
  • Access a copy of it.
  • Correct information that's wrong.
  • Delete it, with some legal exceptions.
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of it, on our Do Not Sell or Share page or with a GPC signal.
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information. We don't use sensitive information to infer characteristics about you.
  • Not be discriminated against for using any of these rights.

To make a request, email hello@goldenhourenergy.com with the subject “Privacy request.” We'll confirm receipt, verify your identity by matching details you gave us, and respond within the time the law allows. An authorized agent may make a request for you with your signed permission. Our notice follows the CCPA regulations on notices at collection (§7012).

Global Privacy Control

Global Privacy Control is a setting in some browsers and extensions that tells websites you don't want your information sold or shared. When we detect it, we treat it as an opt-out of sale and sharing for that browser. If you've also given us your email, you can use the opt-out form to apply it to your information everywhere.

Children

This site is for adult homeowners. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we don't sell or share information of anyone we know to be under 16.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so please don't send us anything we haven't asked for, like a Social Security number.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we sell or share your information, we'll show it clearly before we collect more.
